How Much Does a Wedding Planner Cost in the UK?
If you’ve just started planning your wedding, you might already be asking yourself the big question: “Do I need a wedding planner, and how much does one actually cost in the UK?”
It’s one of the most common questions I receive as a planner, and for good reason. Weddings are a significant investment, and you want to understand where a planner fits into that picture.
In this guide, I’ll break down the typical cost of a wedding planner in the UK, the different services you can expect, and - most importantly - why couples consistently say it’s one of the best investments they made for their wedding day.

What Does a Wedding Planner Do?
Before we talk numbers, it’s worth clarifying what a wedding planner actually does. A professional planner is more than someone who “organises things.”
They can:
Create a realistic budget and keep you on track.
Recommend and liaise with trusted suppliers.
Manage timelines, contracts, and logistics.
Offer design input and creative direction.
Coordinate the wedding day itself so you can be fully present.
In short: a planner ensures the year (or more) of planning is smooth, and the wedding day itself is seamless.
How Much Does a Wedding Planner Cost in the UK?
Wedding planner fees in the UK vary depending on the service level, location, and the scale of your wedding. As a guide:
Full Planning: From 10%–15% of your overall budget, with a minimum fee (often starting at £5,000). This covers everything from start to finish.
Partial Planning: Typically a flat fee, often in the range of £2,500–£5,000, depending on how far along you are and what support you need.
On-the-Day Coordination: Usually £1,000–£2,500, depending on the complexity of your wedding, how many days support is requested, and whether an assistant team is required.

Remember, a lot of couples don’t fall into these exact packages, and depending on your needs some wedding planners (like me!) will tailor make bespoke proposals for you.

Why Hiring a Wedding Planner Is Worth It
Couples sometimes wonder if a planner is an “extra” cost, but here’s why it’s an investment that pays for itself:
1. You’ll Save Time (And Stress)
Planning a wedding can take over 300+ hours. Most couples are already juggling full-time jobs, social lives, and family commitments. A planner takes on the heavy lifting, so you don’t have to.
2. You’ll Get Access to the Best Suppliers
Planners have a black book of trusted suppliers; people they know will deliver. That means you don’t risk wasting money on suppliers who aren’t the right fit or may not deliver on the day.
3. You’ll Avoid Costly Mistakes
From contracts to logistics, a planner spots the red flags before you sign or pay. That peace of mind alone is worth it.
4. You’ll Actually Enjoy Your Day
Your wedding day is about being present, not fielding calls from florists or checking if the band has arrived. A planner manages it all behind the scenes so you can truly celebrate.
Having a wedding planner allows you to be in the moment on your day.
100% of the time.
